Smart Deer Tracked By Farmer Then Loaded In Truck
A Thayer area deer outsmarted pursuing dogs by approaching farmer Bud Chronister who loaded the tired spike horn into his pickup. The deer rested in the barn on hay while the hounds dispersed before returning to its wild range. In baseball, Joe DeMaestri of the Kansas City Athletics piled six hits in a game against the Tigers marking a rare feat since 1953.
