Highway Funds Put To Work On North Carolina Secondary Roads
Raleigh August 3 The North Carolina highway department plans to spend the $2,000,000 allocated by Governor Clyde Hoey to repair and build weak spots on 35,000 miles of secondary roads used by school buses. Engineer Vance Baise says the money will not go far given the cost of about $300 per mile and notes the department would still like more funds. Increased revenues in 1936-37 boosted receipts to about $29.5 million, well above the estimated $25.6 million.
