Former State Patrolman Fails In Latest Job Bid

Raleigh AP report says Robert Williams failed to win reinstatement to the North Carolina highway patrol after a hearing with Crime Control secretary Phillip J. Carlton. Williams was dismissed in June following a roadblock shootout near Durham that left Virginia trooper Garland Fisher dead and led to disciplinary actions against six officers.

Perth trio breaks motorcycle endurance record

A three man team led by Richard Kennett Don Mitchell and Owen Fitzgerald set a nonstop endurance record in Perth Australia riding for more than 500 hours around an army barracks. Magistrate: Evidence Exists To Charge Duncan

A federal magistrate ruled enough evidence exists to charge Edwin Duncan Jr. with five counts of misappropriating 240000 in bank funds. Arraignment set for Aug 19 after a preliminary hearing where an FBI agent testified a special code enabled checks by Duncan to be rejected by the bank computer but not deducted from his account.
