Tax plan tightens property relief and adds credits
The proposal tightens property tax relief for some and excludes corporations. It would grant refundable credits to low and middle income elderly or renters based on property taxes or rent. An elderly age credit could reduce taxes by about $200 million. A simplified Form 1040S would streamline deductions including a $500 miscellaneous deduction. A 50 percent nonpublic school tuition credit up to 200 per child would be refundable, phasing out above 18,100 dollars. An investment credit supports exploratory drilling with 7 percent credit on intangible costs and a 5 percent supplementary credit if productive.
