Credit Inflation Constrains Policy as Banks Hold Cash
The Treasury has ample cash and banks will receive redemption money as bond holders or as deposits. The Federal Reserve board sold 108 million dollars of bonds last week to curb price rises. Roosevelt’s credit inflation program lifts government bond prices by increasing idle bank money and boosting bond purchases for investment. The result is a more volatile bond market if gold money circulates quickly.
