Presbyterian Leaders Urged To Aid Dixie Factory Worker
CHARLOTTE The Southern Presbyterian Church faces about 500 commissioners at its General Assembly next week with overtures to aid industrial workers described as largely untouched by ministry. Proposals seek a division for staff assistance and seminary field work in industrial areas, plus a chair of industrial ministry. The assembly will also consider repudiating a liberal stance on racial issues and liberalizing remarriage laws as part of broader reforms. Dr EF C Scott of Atlanta will retire in 1959 after 23 years as stated clerk. Dr James A Millard Jr of Austin is nominated.
