June vote seems likely as Italy braces for early election
ROME AP A fresh Socialist rebuff to the Christian Democrats boosts a June early election. The Socialists refuse to renew tacit support for Premier Moro and demand no Communist role in policy. They warn only a broad democratic alliance can solve Italy's crisis, while the party's right wing gains influence. The chamber shortened campaign time enabling a June vote. The Communists polled 33 percent last year and may overtake the Christian Democrats despite Vatican, Ford, and Kissinger warnings.
