Old Standard Chair Co. Shapes Thomasville Craft and History
Old Standard, founded in 1898 by Lambeth and partners, powered Thomasville’s furniture era with rockers, swings, and settees. Workers Willis and Willie Myers recall early 1900s labor, wildcat whistles, and daily output rising from 120 to 2000 chairs. The plant merged with Erwin Lambeth and closed in 1955.
