Surplus Prison Farm Goods Offer To Reduce State Costs
The North Carolina state prison farm at Caledonia produced more than enough food to meet needs as prisoner numbers swell to about 1,850. About 20 000 bushels of corn 5000 bales of hay and 6 900 pounds of lard will be offered for sale to ease rising maintenance costs and create work for inmates in other lines such as concrete pipe and coal mine placements near Sanford.
