Black Africa Boiling In Ferment For Self Rule And Independence

Dal las Billington left Kentucky for Akron in 1924 and built a small congregation that became the Baptist Temple, a five million dollar church now with about 16 900 members and a 600 000 dollar annual budget. The church runs a vast operation with 1 000 workers, a large Sunday School, a book store, print shop and radio gear. Billington preaches from study without notes, bans dancing and movies, and neon signs illuminate the church, which plans five revivals starting April 24 to mark its 25th anniversary.
