Labor Record of Solons Not to Be Rated All Bad
Raleigh April 9. A review shows the Legislators were not all bad toward labor. The anti closed shop or right to work bill drew strong opposition from labor and the failure to enact a minimum wage law is noted. Increases in labor department funding and several amendments to workmen’s compensation and unemployment laws are highlighted along with safety provisions and health and welfare statute changes benefiting industrial workers. A senate defeat of a bill to outlaw picketing is seen as a labor victory.
