Open Meetings Court Suit Won By Newspapers
The North Carolina Court of Appeals upheld a Raleigh newspapers challenge to Wake County schools, reducing notice from 48 to six hours and banning secret ballots while allowing some private study meetings. The ruling preserves open meeting requirements but leaves a grey area on committee of the whole exemptions and legitimate private study.
