Slow Payments on Assessments Threaten City Finances
City officials warn that nine months into the fiscal year only 67000 has been collected from special assessments, far short of the 150000 budgeted. If collections do not improve, a tax rate hike of about 25 cents may be required to cover the shortfall, though foreclosures remain an option.
