Torrential rains turned creeks into floods across the Carolina foothills with a four inch 24 hour rainfall. Upstate counties reported danger passing while eastern towns braced for impact as floods threatened bridges dams and hundreds of homes including about 200 in Charlotte.

April T. Robert Baker president of Blue Bell Overall Company said the Greensboro plant suffered the heaviest damage in last Thursday's tornado. Estimated losses range from 200000 to 400000 dollars as cleanup and repairs begin.
