Appointment of Col Watts to Revenue Post Sparks Debate
North Carolina papers critique Governor Morrison’s choice of Col Alston D Watts as commissioner of revenue and taxation as a politically motivated reward. Some editors condemn the appointment as pie distribution, while others acknowledge Watts' ability but doubt public confidence. The move triggers broader questions about patronage and governance in state affairs.
