High Point ABC profits insufficient for enforcement needs
High Point ABC board chair Nick Fisher told the City Council that profits from the new store will barely cover one officer's $14,000 salary. He warned that 5 percent limits on law enforcement, rehabilitation, and education leave no funds for effective enforcement of liquor laws. Fisher estimated a $25,000 to $30,000 annual program cost and urged funding from additional ABC profits or an amended state statute. The downtown store opened two weeks ago and has already processed about $80,000 in sales, the largest level for its size in the state.
