Village Ignores Elections To Save Money

Harrietta Michigan, a 200 population farming village, has not held an election in three years. Clerk George Lipar says the council avoids elections since incumbents are repeatedly re elected and the cost of 200 dollars exceeds their 158 dollar general fund. The elder Lipar notes only 20 people voted last time. State officials may seek a court order for a special election.

Tornadoes Strike Wichita Falls Texas Area

Tornadoes struck Wichita Falls and nearby Stoneburg causing one death, 13 injuries, and widespread damage. Authorities estimate $750000 in Wichita Falls losses with 175 structures damaged or destroyed and severe disruption to communications. A separate twister near Stoneburg caused additional property harm and eight homes uprooted.
