Former New York City official Thomas M. Farley died at Fifth Avenue hospital after an appendicitis operation. His death followed a coronary embolism, ending a long career tied to Tammany Hall and the Seabury graft inquiry of 1932. T C Carter of Mebane was elected district chairman. The convention deferred naming a candidate for Congress. Many High Pointers led by E A Wright are expected to back him in protests about the county convention. Other members named include Worth D Henderson and J M Millikan of Greensboro W I Ward of Graham S H Batchnight of Orange County and O M Perry of Durham County.
John Van Kirken age 21 was killed when an automobile driven by Jesse Heise overturned as he swerved to avoid hitting a woman. Heise and his sister Margaret were not seriously hurt.
Edward William Pou veteran congressman from the fourth North Carolina district and dean of the House was brought home for burial. His body traveled on a special Atlantic Coast Line train stopping at his hometown with a distinguished congressional delegation. Hundreds of townspeople and nearly a thousand Black school children witnessed tribute as the flag flew at half mast for Mister Pou.
CHARLOTTE April 3 Republicans ready for a state convention fight over the chairman's seat. Warren V. Hall says the state executive committee should be halved. James S. Duncan and W. C. Meekins claim about 700 votes each. A. I. Ferree predicts at least 400. A Winston Salem group led by Edward F. Butler opposes Duncan without naming a substitute.

He cited higher lending in cities, rising freight forecasts, and RFC loan activity as evidence of better conditions, while reserve declines and congressional debates over credit banks aimed to support industry.
Carl Wickman a Denver druggist was found guilty of murdering his fourth wife Donalda Wickman with a tire iron on the highway near Albuquerque. A jury sentenced him to death for the November 25 1933 killing after a 40 minute deliberation. The court noted the crime was wanton and cruel and the state alleged a life insurance motive.
In Hollywood California on April 2 a tribute statue is due for a frail 67 year old woman, Mrs Thomas Hitchcock, celebrated as a patron saint of American horse lovers. The piece praises courage, horsemanship, and sportsmanship embodied by she who is called god mother of polo.
