William Penn Notebook Tracks and Band Events Highlight Week
The Penn week featured a large turnout for track led by contenders like James Bates and Harry Geter with aims at the Western District Meet in May. The second major event was a symphonic band concert prepping for the District Band Festival on April 7. The library bulletin board inspired reading, and band boosters launched a $10,000 drive for new uniforms with a kickoff in the school auditorium led by Mayor Carson Stout. The guidance counselor attended a conference in Charlotte on improving relations among business leaders and counselors. Douglas High School Student Council from Kingsport, Tenn., is awaited.
