Taft and ex president Roosevelt to visit the Appalachian exposition in Kaorville Tennessee from September 12 to October 12. Roosevelt fixed October 7 as his visit date and will attend Spanish American War veterans day events delivering an address to comrades of 98 and greeting thousands of soldiers.
The Appalachian exposition council reports President Taft has accepted an invitation and will attend with a party. A marble tablet gifts Roosevelt, and Taft Day activities, railroads, and social events will be organized to welcome both leaders and regional crowds to Knoxville.
In Newton yesterday Justice Cochran presided over a packed pre liminary trial for D J Carpenter charged with arson by Rader. Carpenter allegedly persuaded Rader to burn the Newton Hosiery Mill warehouse. Rader his wife John Yount and others testified as the prosecution led by LC Caldwell. Carpenter was discharged with defense by Self A A Whitener Witherspoon Feim ster and Gaither.
The new St Andrews Church at Lenoir College will be dedicated next Sunday with Rev. L W J Boger of the Tennessee Synod delivering the sermon and assisting. Services start at 11 o'clock, with the congregation forming in the chapel for the procession and special music rehearsals led by Miss Stecher. Public invited to the event and the college officials are expected to attend. The Young People's Missionary Society will hold a first public meeting Sunday night at 7 with a special pre program, and these services occur each third Sunday night.
Catawba Creamery Co reports August butter fat receipts of 1385.93 dollars and 4512.54 pounds, plus 15819 pounds of cream. The firm notes 69 patrons and urges more joiners to reach a potential ten thousand pounds of butter at low cost. Fox bankruptcy case, the trustee will sell at public auction on October 8, 1910, at noon, at the First National Bank of Hickory steps to the highest cash bidder.
