County Board calls two new car tax elections

Shooting Siblings among Cline's Township quarrel victims
In Cline's Township on Sunday Ralph Bolick shot Tom Gilbert and John Gilbert during a quarrel. Tom was hit in the hip and head while John was wounded in the arm near the eye. Both head wounds are dangerous and the Gilberts were taken to Statesville Hospital. Russell Bolick bond set at $1000. Carl Bolick was not yet captured. Tom Gilbert is married to a daughter of D. E. Hickory Boy Burned To Death In House Fire
A 20 year old, Carence Seaboch, died after a fire destroyed his father’s home, with no insurance and a penniless elderly Confederate veteran left destitute. The youth perished inside a burning room as his father pleaded from outside, and the body was recovered by Undertaker J. W. Shuford. Funeral planned at Mt Olive Lutheran church. Origin of blaze unknown. The paper urges fire escapes for upstairs rooms in schools and appeals for aid to the father.
