A second ballot gave Elliott 91 to 78, making his nomination unanimous. Setzer Stroup and Campbell led alderman races. four school trustees were nominated to fill Blalock’s vacancy. The meeting, called by E B Cline and chaired by J. W. Shuford, was the largest of its kind in Hickory.
West Hickory holds two primaries for town offices with a third election set for April 27. Mayor candidate W A Heffner and H H Abe lead rival tickets as residents await action day. Also reported are local measles illness, a new baby, and baseball results for First and Second nines against Newton and Rhodehiss.
