The Board mourns William Wilson Finley born September 2, 1858 in Pass Christian Mississippi. From 1878 he advanced in traffic departments across railroads, became Southern Railway President in 1906, grew revenues and dividends, strengthened management, advocated public understanding of railway policy, promoted Southern welfare, and earned a Tulane LL D in 1910. He united personal virtues with professional leadership, earning board confidence and public respect.
