Husband of Former Hickory Girl Dead

Mr. W. K. Clark of Atlanta, an engineer, was found dead in a Hyde County swamp, presumed to have died from heart failure caused by exposure after becoming lost. Remains sent to Chicago for burial. Survived by his wife Maude Sigmon before marriage and one child. Local friends extend condolences.

Young Musicians Meet at Miss Hatener Home

Last Saturday afternoon the Young Musicians group and invited guests gathered at Miss Kathryn Hatener's home for a well prepared program. Club members performed solos duets and trios including Elien Stuart Merzies Mary Blount Martin Edith Hamrick Elizabeth Callahan Kathryn Setzer Louise Ciliey Lesta Mitchel Alice Lyerly Hazel Tompson Ermaine Sherrill Charlotte Garth Kathryn Hatcher Herol Crouch and Master Fredrick Holder. Alice Lyerly won the musical guessing contest with Charlotte Gerth close behind. Christmas crackers and refreshments ended a jolly afternoon. Next meeting will be with Alice Lyerly.

Fifteen Marriage Licenses Applied For In Two Days

Newton, Dec 20 Fifteen pairs of marriage licenses were applied for Saturday and today four were refused by a skeptical register of deeds while eleven permits were granted. A local history volume by Prof Geo W Hahn of Hickory detailing Catawba Civil War involvement and soldiers, may be placed in county school libraries. Mack D Miller, a farmer, owns Black Minorca roosters that turned white after moulting. The home of Mrs Rhoda Carter was destroyed tonight at 11 o clock with part of contents saved.

Christmas service at the Reformed Church features choir and saxophone

The Christmas program at the Reformed Church includes a large choir, hymn selections, and a saxophone rendition. Donations to the needy are welcome from congregants. The service begins at one o'clock, with the Brookville mission also noted for its activities alongside.
