Two Weddings Tie the Knot at Local Homes

A large Mecklen burg delegation toured Catawba County dairy farms and the Hickory creamery on Tuesday. The group exceeded expectations with over 200 attendees and 51 autos, learning about modern methods, stock, road building, and production practices from R W Graeber, R L Shuford, and Henry Lutz. The trip highlighted Jersey cattle, 130 head on one farm, a 600 acre operation with a full dairy, refrigeration, and a summer ice cream program, and signaled plans for a larger future outing.

Jury sentences two to death in electric chair case
At 11:50 p m Saturday Judge E B Cline sentenced Ida Ball Warren and Samuel Preston Christy to die in the electric chair on September 24 1915. The court noted no adjournment for supper and the proceedings ran late as Warren showed moments of tremor then steadied. The verdicts for Clifton Stonestreet as accessory were guilty with a three year sentence. The case drew a packed courtroom and a juror noted it would mark the first white woman electrocution in the state.
