Armored cruiser Tennessee carries vast gold shipment

Creamery Meeting Held Here Tuesday

The North Carolina Creamery Association met here Tuesday and elected officers. Officers include Curtis Bynum as president and Marvin Blanton as vice president and secretary treasurer W J Shuford. Representatives from Shelby White Pine Asheville Mooresville and Greensboro attended. The group discussed selling creameries output, advertising butter, and increasing monthly production from 150000 to 300000 pounds. Southern Railway plans to add daily cars to serve creameries. The tone was optimistic about North Carolina creamery growth and butter quality.

Peter Wilfong Whitener Answers Last Roll Call

Peter Wilfong Whitener a Civil War veteran of Catawba county has died at 74 after progressive illness. He enlisted in 1861 in Co A 12th NC Volunteers, lost a leg in 1863, and lived with his two daughters and two sons in Hickory after his wife died eight years earlier. He was an elder at Corinth Reformed Church and survived by four children and several relatives.

Peace Treaties Debated as Senate Convenes

Washington August 10 peace treaties and bills to admit foreign built ships to American register will be before the senate when it resumes after the weekend.
