May Enjoin Henry River Over Sewerage In Hickory Area
The aldermen voted to give Henry River five days notice to stop emptying sewerage into the river two miles above Hickory's water intake. If ignored, Hickory will seek an injunction at Buncombe court. A city clerk reported privies over a ditch feeding the river and cotton mill effluent entering pipes into the stream. The State Board of Health has been appealed to twice without action. Ex Mayor J D Elliott became alderman replacing P C Setzer who resigned.

Theves Fine involved Ed Sides Fred Sides Marvin Turner facing charges after a shooting incident with Mr Jule Fry who defended his patch. Fry was shot near the heart but survived. Constable Porter Burns provided testimony to accuse the youths of plotting to invade the patch. Fred Sides and Marvin Turner were fined $5000 plus costs, with an appeal filed.

Reapportionment bill advances as Senate passes measure
The amended reapportionment bill would set the House at 433 members after March 3 1913 excluding Arizona and New Mexico, increasing from the current size by 43. the bill remains in conference with the House committee. Superintendent Williams reports removing and replacing filter sand will take four days, with full water service expected afterward.
