Burke County Creamery routes boost farm output in Burke

In Burke County, the Casantar Creamery now runs routes delivering cream butter and eggs daily. Local prices rose about one third as farmers shift supplies to the creamery. The proposed railroad bonds died, leaving no plan for Burke rail link, and J D Pitts of Glen Alpine leads Burke in wheat and corn, with farming supporting his lumber business.

Attractive Mountain Excursion Special Train Aug 10 1915

Southern Railway operated a special day coach and Pullman train from Charlotte to Asheville via Salisbury on Tuesday August 10. Fares from multiple points to Asheville and Black Mountain were advertised with round trips and return validity through August 13. North Exceeds Record in Use of Dixie Cotton

Northern cotton mills during the season just ended took more cotton from the south than ever before in history. Official statistics show Northern takings at 2,883,208 bales, up from 2,561,570 last season and 2,485,574 two years ago. Exports rose to 8,541,908 bales. Some exporters warned a year ago that outward movement would not exceed 1,000,000 due to war. Average bale weight was 515.27 pounds this season, compared with 514.34 last year and 517.99 the year before.
