Mountain Excursion Special Fare to Asheville Announced
Southern Railway will run a special excursion from Charlotte to Asheville via Salisbury on Tuesday August 10 1915 with day coaches and Pullman cars at notably low round trip fares. Routes include Charlotte Lexington Kannapolis Albemarle Statesville Winston-Salem Morganton and Black Mountain with 50 cent consession fees. Round trips depart Asheville at 230 p.m. and return on regular trains up to Friday August 13. Information available from ticket offices see the notice.

Beck er Met Death at Sing Sing in Becker Execution
Charles Becker, former New York police lieutenant, was executed at Sing Sing Prison Ossining New York for instigating the murder of Herman Rosenthal. He maintained innocence to the end, stood calmly, and died after three electric shocks with priests at his side. Becker expressed a final message of alleged innocence to his friends.
