Labor Day Festivities and Park Attractions in Hershey
Labor Day in Hershey on September 5 will close many operations nationwide. Thousands are expected at Palmyra for the celebration and to visit Chocolate Town. The Miniature Railroad opens, vaudeville performs daily, dancing after band concerts, and Park Restaurant will serve meals all week. Hershey's Labor Day program includes boating and other attractions, plus a Hershey vs Elliott-Fisher Harrisburg game. McKinley school reopens with staff introductions led by Prof. George S. Stuart and Principal W.W. Brandt. Enrollment totals: High School 433, Grammar 27, Primary 41, Secondary 49, total 160.

Mrs Jennie M Hershey wife of Harry B Hershey died Saturday at 9 PM at her home on Trinidad Avenue after years of illness. Dropsy and heart disease were listed as immediate causes with other complications. Born in Annville 48 years ago she lived locally most of her life and was a member of Hummelstown Lutheran Church. Survived by husband and six children Newman Montana Joseph Spokane Mrs Irvin Weaver Penbrook Mrs Raymond Ayers Harrisburg Roy and Harry at home. Funeral held Wednesday 9:30 AM at home. interment in Hummelstown Cemetery. Rev Burt Smith officiated. Wm Karmany & Son directed funeral arrangements.
