Hershey Public Schools Present Springtime at Hershey Park Theatre

The Hershey Public Schools staged Springtime a three act musical comedy at Hershey Park Theatre on Monday and Tuesday evenings to large audiences. Miss Gregg Darrow led the cast with a memorable performance and strong supporting work from Lucille Gilman Mildred Hocker Jessie Dersheimer and Edward Shea. Spark Plug and Toad provided comedic finales while the overall production drew praise for vocal quality rhythm and clever lines.

Three Big Dances at Hershey Fair

Hershey firemen host three dances at the Hershey Winter Dance Hall from October 20 to 27. Drescher’s 8 piece orchestra opens the week, October 20, followed by the Masquerade Dance October 24 with Reading Masqueraders, then the University Club Orchestra October 27 to close. Prizes for costumes are offered.

Lancaster Conference Meets In Hershey

The fall convention of the Lancaster Conference of the Lutheran Church will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hershey on Tuesday and Wednesday October 23. Sessions begin 10:00 AM Tuesday with 2:00 PM 7:00 PM times and 9:00 AM Wednesday. Over a hundred pastors and delegates from Harrisburg Lancaster and surrounding counties attend. A vesper service Tuesday at 7:00 PM features organist Clark Bare and enhanced music. Conference members will be hosted by the local congregation.

Rally Day Observed by Derry Presbyterian Church

Rally Day will be observed Sunday October 14 by the Derry Presbyterian church. Sunday School rally is at 9 15 with S C Boyer of Harrisburg to speak. Truck Saturday Visit for Firemen’s Fair Donations

Special Train to New York for World Series Fans

On Sunday October 14 the P and R Railroad will run a special train from Hershey departing at 4 18 am to New York to allow baseball fans to view a World Series game. Ample parking around Hershey station enables out of town travelers to drive in for the morning trip and return that evening after the game.

Sistine Chapel Choir to Sing in Hershey October 21

The Sistine Chapel Choir of the Vatican will tour the United States, opening in New York October 16 and performing at Hershey Convention Hall Sunday, October 21 at 2 00 PM. The group, fifty four members, trains under Monsignor Antonio Bella and features two sublime numbers Gloria laus et honor and Allegri Miserere. P R R offers excursion trains from several cities, with tickets priced 1 10 1 65 and 2 20 including tax.

YWCA Extends Registration Deadline for Classes

At a meeting of the Educational Committee of the Y W C A the time for class registration was extended to October 15. A list of proposed classes is posted on the Y W C A bulletin board. At least ten enrollments are required to form a class and registration does not obligate enrollment if a class does not form.

Hershey volunteer fire company fired up the engine Monday night and shot water over the factory lawns. Officials listed include Chief John Conrad and Assistant Chief John Snavely with a large group of members. The unit plans to attend Palmyra’s dedication of a new fire hall and engine on Saturday October 27, and all members are urged to sign up.
