H N Herr urges cooperation for Clean-Up Week May 4 to 9 to remove useless furniture boxes and rubbish and store it for street removal. He warns that backyard accumulation breeds mosquitoes and flies and stresses quick manure cleanup, tight garbage pails, and early kitchen screening to curb the fly menace.
The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company held its regular meeting at the Hose House. The Fair Committee reported a net of 623.39, the Roll of Honor included John Conrad and Wm Lebkicker, a fire drill was set for Friday at 7, and plans to buy ten gum coats caps and boots were approved with committee steps to determine hose needs and obtain prices.
On Thursday evening May 7 at 7 30 Bebe Daniels stars in Little Miss Blue Beard a seven reel comedy drama at the Hershey Central Theatre On Tuesday evening May 12 at 7 30 Buck Jones stars in Gold and the Girl at the same theatre.
Hershey firefighters responded to two separate chimney blaze alarms on back to back mornings. Chief Boyer and crew quickly dispatched to the Copp residence on Derry road and the Gerlach home in Hershey Highlands, extinguishing flames before they spread.
Eugenia S. Materazzi of Swatara received citizenship in the Dauphin County naturalization court on Tuesday. Judge Fox noted new Department of Labor filings require health certificates for family members living abroad before citizenship, and no applications will be heard until the applicant passes the intelligence test at a preliminary hearing.
Miss Marion Murrie of Hershey and Ashley DeWolf Jr of New York eloped after meeting in Bethlehem. They were married in Corpus Christi Church Manhattan at 4 p m on Wednesday. The couple, both 19, honeymooned at the Ambassador Hotel and will reside at 884 West End Avenue after June 15.
The twenty ninth quadrennial General Conference of the United Brethren in Christ will convene in Buffalo New York at Elmwood Music Hall for two weeks. Delegates from 214 lay and ministerial members will elect bishops and church officers while addressing foreign missions and department concerns.
Joe Hetchel and R W Lloyd spent Saturday afternoon along Spring Creek near Hershey chasing trout. After a long struggle Hetchel landed a speckled beauty measuring 18 and a half inches, displayed proudly to friends and admired by onlookers.
The opening dance at the Hershey Park Dance Pavilion will be held on Wednesday evening May 13. The Annual May Hop follows on May 20 with dances every Wednesday and Saturday thereafter. Banjo Saxo Orchestra of Harrisburg will provide music. The pavilion floor and decorations will enhance a gala summer season.

The Western tale based on Zane Grey features cowboys outlaws and a grand cattle drive set in Idaho with Helene Chadwick Charles Ogle and Gibson Gowland among the cast.
Samuel H. Mumford of Lebanon will face a hearing before Alderman Windsor on a charge of failing to stop and render aid after his car struck Harry M. Albright a Reading shoe merchant near Hershey on the night of March 5. Albright died of injuries. inquest verdict pinned death on Mumford. murder charge later dropped for lack of evidence. Mumford is represented by Edward E. Beidleman.
C H Hertzler of Lancaster will address Otterbein Men’s Bible Class of First United Brethren Sunday School at their monthly meeting in the church on Thursday evening at 7 30 o'clock. Subject is Quality vs Quantity. Hertzler, a noted Christian worker, taught Lancaster County’s first organized adult Bible class and now teaches a large Woman’s Bible Class at Otterbein A B Sunny School. Special music arranged. All invited.
Philadelphia magician Harry Morphet is engaged as an added attraction at the Hershey Central Theatre. He brings a large stock of tricks and promises to leave the audience guessing how he does them. Two performances are set for 6:30 and 8:30 on Saturday evening May 9.

Elections installed Irvin H Slesser as president, Noah Gibble as vice president, Paul R Gingrich as secretary, Milton Basehore as treasurer, with department superintendents named for Children, Young People, Adults, Teachers Training, Home and Extension, Missionary, Temperance, and Community Service.
The Child Health Clinic at the Y W C A drew sixteen mothers and nineteen babies despite rain. Prizes were awarded by Mrs. Ezra Hershey for attendance and weight gain, with Verna Wagner the youngest, Leonard Wagner the greatest gain birth to two, Edward Rogers two to five, and Robert Stewart from Hershey receiving the weight gain honor. Dr. W Scott urged parental care and Well Baby Clinic visits.
The Hershey team begins its season Saturday afternoon facing Hanover in the Blue Ridge League. Poor weather kept Hershey from regular practice, but players expect a strong showing as Ream’s choice for mound duty is anticipated for Hanover’s rotation.
A baseball game of interest is scheduled for next Sunday afternoon as Hershey Department Store meets Sand Beach on Sand Beach's diamond. The Store team, recently organized, brings a strong roster to challenge the Seashore nine with Zentmeyer likely pitching for the Store squad.
The weekly baby clinic will be held Thursday afternoon May 7 in the Red Cross rooms. All mothers are encouraged to bring their babies. A doctor will be in attendance.
On Friday May 8 mothers who have signed for their children to receive toxin antitoxin should come to the Red Cross room for the first injection. The second injection will be given May 15 and the third May 22.
Hershey High School pupils staged a three act musical comedy A Maid of Tokyo at Hershey Park theatre on April 2 and May 4 to benefit the Senior Washington trip fund. Despite a cold snap audiences praised the ensemble with strong performances by Cherryblossom Esther Magrini Kokemo Lawrence Edwards Logo Les Long Joan Smith and Henry Jones. The Geisha chorus and the Chinese Laundry dance number drew especially warm acclaim.
The YWCA plans Mother-Daughter Week May 10 to May 17 with daily services, church participation, and a May 16 banquet for girls interested in joining Girl Reserves or the High School Club. Activities include plays, choir, ushers, and a caper service finale.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church observes Mother’s Day with morning and evening services. Morning theme is Reflections from the Old Arm Chair. Evening Vesper offers readings and song on The Mothers of the Bible with scriptural biographies read by the pastor. Choir provides special music and the church is decorated.
Woodmen of the World State Convention met in Willameport from April 29th to May 1st. Local Hershey Camp delegates Irvin Rubb George E Kilne E R Maya and Warren I Sattazahn attended and earned laurels for the camp by securing a State Convention delegate spot.
