The Hershey Improvement Company asks residents to stop dumping ashes and refuse in alleys and open lots. Winter’s ash piles should be removed to keep the town clean and healthy and to aid in maintaining the area as the tidiest in the vicinity.
Michael Yingst aged sixty one died at his Hershey home after four days of illness from rheumatic heart disease. He leaves three daughters Mrs W J Stoner Penbrook Mrs A K Kettering Annville and Margie at home with one daughter Emma Weltmer deceased. Funeral Tuesday at Hummelstown cemetery with pallbearers John Heckert Amos Hershey Samuel Garman John Funk Robert Patrick Jacob Habacker.
The Hershey YMCA Star Entertainment Course ends with Foster's Funny Fellows on Tuesday April 2 in the Hershey Park dancing pavilion. Three acts Thomas Dobson Al Baker and Paul Cohn perform as minstrel magician ventriloquist and pianist. Show starts at eight with admission 25 and 35 cents.
Mrs J A McDonald wife of Rev J A McDonald pastor of Derry Presbyterian Church died at her Chocolate avenue home early Monday after a brief illness kidney trouble named as cause Rev McDonald was away at the time neighbors had arranged care for her during her illness Dr E
Attending physician Dr Schaffer reported no immediate concerns before her quiet death around 3 AM Sunday. The widow of the late Charles Merchant from Albany, she leaves a New York City brother and sister, with two Civil War veteran brothers deceased. Funeral services were held Tuesday night and the body sent to Albany for burial after Wednesday's dawn procession.
Henry F. Hershey, former Steelton postmaster and brother of Dr. M. L. Hershey of Hershey, died last Friday from a paralytic stroke. A Presbyterian service was held at his home, with interment at Paxtang cemetery. Born in Derry Church in 1846, he lived in Steelton 25 years serving as tax collector, borough council member, and postmaster for eight years. His term expires next May.
Tonight at Hershey YMCA a base ball social will begin at 8 o clock. Short talks by local players and enthusiasts are planned and refreshments will be served. All men urged to attend whether members or not for an evening of good entertainment.
Mr William F R Murrie returned home Monday evening to find fifteen guests awaiting him with a birthday surprise. Each guest brought a pair of suspenders as a gift, providing a range of styles for his thirty ninth birthday. After the gathering, Mrs Murrie led the group to an elegant dinner with cards and toasts. E F Hershey won the gentleman's prize and J B Leithiser won the lady's prize.
