The annual Church of the Brethren meeting Opens with new moderator H. C. Early declaring Thy Kingdom Come. Hershey founder M. S. Hershey is praised as delegates applaud his contributions and vision for the town and its people.
Leaders announce support for local option law in Pennsylvania as Governor Brumbaugh receives praise. Elder Frantz thanks Mr. Hershey for kindness and magnanimity. Over 10,000 attend Monday meetings and car crowd. Lebanon News covers daily conference reports by John R. Snyder.
Visitors showed strong interest in the Hershey Store as a new phase of cooperation. They tested its quality and the store conducted brisk business all week with broad attention across departments and large purchases.
Three handsome State Constabulary members arrive in Hershey from Pottsville. Serjeant Mar ryfield, James Snodgrass, and James Davis of C Troop are seasoned officers with global experience. Trooper Davis has traveled the world including Australia and the Argentine.
Miss Margaret Moyer of Myeratown and Elmer O. Hummel of Hummelatown wed in Maryland Wednesday. The couple, highly regarded locally, begin a life together with many friends wishing them happiness.
Governor Brumbaugh spoke to overflow crowds at Hershey Convention Hall and a baseball grandstand event. He urged peace promotion by the people, arbitration over litigation, and aligning government with church teachings on pacifism. The gathering highlighted the Brethren church’s influence and Brumbaugh’s rising political stature.
Crowds packed the Hershey Factory week with President Murrie’s courteous force guiding visitors through welfare, molding, wrapping, and longitudinal rooms. Hundreds waited for tours as officials showcased important chocolate and cocoa processes. Visitors called it the most wonderful factory they had ever seen and each received souvenir view cards.
Prof J C Myers principal of Broadway High School in Rockingham County Va praised the Hershey School Building as one of the most up to date and best equipped he had seen. Hundreds toured the facility while Yo H A Newton in charge noted the appreciation and visitors expressed strong interest in education and the consolidated school model.
A visitor, Mrs. M A Brota, found a roll of bills Monday and notified Hershey Chocolate Company officials to return the money to its rightful owner. The tax offices are in Elmer Acehtal, Front and Fulton Streets, Stealton, Pa.
Dr Benner of Harrisonburg Virginia has accepted the veterinary position over Hershey and began duties on the preceding Saturday, starting his new role.
Hershey hosted a large conference with over 30 000 to 50 000 visitors. 35 000 cited as likely total. Transit and rail lines moved crowds without disorder. Park Avenue traffic counted 5 000 to 6 000 cars and over 2 000 parked fields. Worldly attendees from many states and Canada joined, with Brethren people forming about sixty percent. Hospitality centers in Hershey aided by M B Hershey Consolidated School, Inn, Hershey Man's Club, and Y W C A under General Manager Leithiser.
