Mr and Mrs William Brinker and daughter Anna visit relatives in Lancaster on Sunday. Mrs H T Kieffer spends the day in Lancaster with her mother Mrs Mary Seachrist. Numerous locals travel to Harrisburg Dillsburg York and Pittsburgh for visits and leisure. A fishing trip to Fortesque NJ yields two baby sharks and a variety of fish.
Creatore's fifty piece band led by Giuseppe Creatore returns for four concerts at Hershey Park Convention Hall on August 25 and 26. Reserved seats cost 50 cents with proceeds benefiting the Hershey Red Cross. John Sollenberger handles the reserved seat chart at the Hershey Trust Co. starting August 1.
County Commissioners Friday rejected all six bids opened last Wednesday and dropped the Horseshoe Pike reconstruction. They cited higher than expected prices and may not re advertise this year due to high labor and material costs. They asked the State Highway Department for progress on plans for the Elizabethville to Berrysburg road, deeming it more promising. D L Risser of Lebanon submitted the lowest bid at 180925.14 for five and one half miles of paving.
The Hershey Park picnic dates for July list events including Knights of Columbus and Methodist groups on July 26 and 27, Rutherford Y M C A on July 27, Armstrong Cork Co from Lancaster on July 28, and a P R excursion from New York City and Newark on July 29.
The Dauphin County Meeting of the Past Grand Association of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows will be held in Shellsville on Monday evening July 30 at 7 30 p.m. A strong program and large attendance are planned with addresses recitations and musical items featuring local figures and a discussion on Odd Fellowship and the community.
At Hershey Park on Sunday afternoon July 29 the Lebanon Male Chorus directed by A W Hartman will perform at 2 30 as 35 members present The program includes works by Barnby Protheroe Wagner Lohengrin and Faust selections with soloists Walter Groh Schock Jones and Ed Schock in a band shell concert
Fred Pronto's Orchestra presents a Sunday program following the Lebanon Male Chorus with selections including Overture Pique Dame, Blue Danube Waltz, The Dollar Princes, Chinese Serenade, Wedding of the Rose, and Three Dances from Henry VIII. Soloist Salvatore Colangelo performs. Tickets five dollars.
The United Brethren Sunday School holds a picnic on Saturday July 28 at Valley Glen Park. All members and friends are invited for sports and a baseball match between the Fords and the Packards. Transportation departs from Para and Areba Avenues at 8 am and 1 15 pm with stops along the route.
The American Legion members and friends may receive a one and a half fare reduction for round trip travel to the State Convention at Reading. Local Post members should report their intent to Paul Shultz or Norman Stable to obtain certificates valid for the member and his family.
Charles H. Clark a lifelong resident died at 54 West Derry Road on July 21 at midnight aged 72 years 2 months and 9 days He survived by his widow six sons and one daughter and a brother Funeral services were held at his home and later at Fishburn church with interment in Fishburn's Cemetery
