A crowded social round up across Duncannon Dillsburg Hershey and Palmyra notes visits vacations and family events. Miss Mary Stauffer married Hugh Imboden in Palmyra while Miss Mildred Derby leaves Hershey for Detroit with farewell supper honors and a will reading.
The comedy by William Anthony McGuire from the Harris Theatre in New York comes to Hershey Park Theatre Thursday through Saturday. It follows a young couple who seek wealth in the city then return to their small town, aided by the father's bequest, as they learn about honesty, ambition, and resilience with strong laughs throughout.

The Hershey Park Orchestra held its third annual picnic at Valley Glen on Weeksaday uly 25th with Fred Pronio and daughters Regina Alma and Norma among many attendees. Rube Irieman demonstrated pitching curves as Blaine Van Horn won a pugilistic contest, Hal Engle and Bill Kuehn won silent swimming, and Fred Pronio led an unassisted opening battle as the group enjoyed dinner and social games.
The Diakonin Bible Class of Holy Trinity Lutheran Bible School will hold a pie and cake sale at the Hershey Market House on Saturday August 4. Funds support church activities and provide pantry items for families.
The Rutherford Yards of the Philadelphia and Reading Railway form a large oval complex with ninety tracks and no main-line connections except at ends. The Men's Club junior campers spend two weeks at Laurel Lake in the South Mountains returning August 1. Heavy rain dampened spirits though hikes and baseball games with Schuylkill Haven Boy Scouts provided some fun. Many relatives and friends visited the site while bears and cold baths stirred nerves.
On a Sunday morning near Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Hershey three girls Ellen Leithiser Olive Wirth and Iva Drescher were hit by a fast moving Overland touring car driven by John Rosenberry of York as they crossed Chocolate and Park Avenues en route to Sunday School Wirth suffered a bad ankle cut and extensive bruising while Leithiser and Drescher sustained facial and body bruises all received first aid and were cared for at local facilities
Ephrata, a famed summer health resort, hosts historic cloisters once home to the Seventh Day Baptists led by Father Friedsam. The monastic village, built from simple wooden cells and austere rooms, housed music, a paper mill, and a printing press, now sits quiet as time passes.
The Lebanon Male Chorus gave a enjoyable Sunday afternoon concert at Hershey Park to a large appreciative audience. The well balanced chorus delivered a notably pleasing program and an excellent performance. A second concert is planned at the Park later in the season with expectations of an even larger crowd.
