State health authorities tested water from several Hershey springs and closed two doubtful ones near the old mill and behind Frantz Zinner’s residence while confirming the main supply remains pure. Park taps are shut to avoid risk though the overall water in town is safe, with typhoid fears labeled unfounded.
The Park Theater crowd praised a varied program led by Prof Maurer in Zampa overture and Zaida whose songs charm the audience. Carlin and Penn deliver fresh comedy Getting a Divorce while Jimmie Cowper earns laughs with unique bits and daring material. Wolffheim statues delight art lovers. Cotter and Boulden perform with Cotter on piano and Boulden singing and banjo, winning applause.
The Otterbein U B Church Men s Bible Class plans an annual outing to Valley Glen on Saturday. They depart from the church at 1 15 p m in a Hershey Chocolate Company auto truck. All who wish to go should assemble promptly.
The Y M C A board approved revisions to its constitution and prepared to file for a charter. Eight trustees were nominated to be elected later by the association with two serving one year two serving two years and two serving three years. The president will sit ex officio on the trustee board. Nominees include P N Kasson Harry Moyer Rev Romig William Kline Elias Bomgardner L R Hildebrand A W Snavely and J R Kreider.
William Shirk, 58, a night watchman at a factory, collapsed from heat Friday evening and died next morning at Good Samaritan Hospital Lebanon. He had lived in Hershey and previously ran a carpet weaving business in Lebanon. He was not married. brothers John of Philadelphia and Cyrus of Hamburg survive. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Mt Lebanon Cemetery with Rev. H B Richards officiating.
Rector Fee se presents a list of instruments needed for the Hershey band to S. D. Clark, manager of the Hershey Store, to secure immediately. The men prove themselves musicians despite old worn out instruments, promising an excellent band with the new equipment.
