Secretary McAdoo Urges Increased Taxation for 1919
McAdoo states in a letter to House Leader Kitchin that relying on 4 billion dollars in taxes is insufficient and would force 20 billion in loan funding. He advocates quick, stronger taxes including a high war profits tax, higher normal income tax on unearned incomes, and heavy taxation on hoarded prices to fund the fiscal year ending June 30, 1919.
