The Children's Hour, run by the Hershey Mothers Club, began last week with twenty eight children. Attendance aims to double as mothers are urged to bring kids ages four to ten. The class moves from ten to eleven forty five, with no charges. This week it met on Wednesday for July Fourth observance, but will resume every Thursday morning.
Hershey journeyed to Duncannon on Saturday and dropped a close game after three early runs gave the hosts the lead. Bishop pitched well allowing five hits but the visitors could not overcome two errors and a tough inning. Seiple stood out with two hits and Hershey plans a July fourth rematch at Hershey Park with a special rooting section.
A patriotic social will be held on the lawn of the Derry Presbyterian Church on Tuesday evening July 9 at 8 o clock for the benefit of the Hershey Red Cross and L P W class.
Hershey hosted the 32nd Dauphin County Sabbath School Association convention with about 221 delegates registered. The inter-denominational gathering included sessions on reports, a parade led by Ralph Mauffair, and addresses by Rev. Worrell and W. G. Landes. Next year’s convention is set for Williamstown in June 1919.
Hershey in Lebanon Valley praised as a beauty spot and attractor for visitors. The notice laments town employees trampling and digging into grass by trolley stops and urges them to stop. warns that arrests will follow if conduct continues.
Miss Bertha Moyer daughter of Mr and Mrs John Moyer of Hershey wed Rev Jacob B Landis of Lancaster at the bride's home on Saturday noon The ceremony was performed by Rev Leader of Camp Hill The couple left for a honeymoon and will reside in Fleetwood Pennsylvania.
Community event notices list picnics at Her Shey Park with dates and hosts. Krause Co of Lebanon hosts July 6 followed by First Methodist Sunday School Steelton on July 11. Enola Union Grace Sunday School and Evangelical School Steelton July 18. Stephen Reformed Lebanon July 20. Presbyterian Lebanon July 23.
The Pickert Sisters Stock Co closed a weather hampered week at Hershey Park with strong crowds. The company staged 24 Hours of Truth a New York hit then Fine Feathers, a Eugene Walters drama featuring Miss Lillian Pickett and Ralph W. Chambers. The vaudeville included the Pickert Quartette and Thomas Williams with a televised saxophone and singing act.
