Tonight at the Hershey Winter Dance Hall from 8 15 to 11 15 features Greene's Society Orchestra of Harrisburg a 12 piece ensemble famed for jazz. The floor is praised as ideal with special decorations inviting couples to fox trot and jazz. Noirah Male Quartet performs during intermission with songs to charm. Admission 50 cents plus war tax.
On Saturday evening the Hershey Central Theatre will give away fortunes to attendees during Jack Holt's performance in A Gentleman In Leisure. The prizes consist of a 100,000 marks bill worth $24,000 before the war, held by Russel Zentmeyer, who warns the money may not redeemable soon. The marks serve as souvenirs, with theatre having paid about 10,000,000,000 marks for the giveaway.
The opening sequence at Waterloo Station depicts Jack Holt as Robert Willoughby Pitt in a novelty scene for the Paramount film. Sir Spencer Deever and chorus girls watch Pitt depart while wagers and a dice game unfold and Holt pursues the train amid suspenseful runway pursuit.
Miss G I Pinette, a renowned toilet goods specialist, will call on Hershey women for two weeks to provide free massage and skin care guidance. She will be at the Hershey Store drug department for appointments by phone letter or in person. The service is completely free.
Miss Grace Harclerode of Steelton entertained at her home on Friday evening at 600 and supper in honor of her niece Miss Clara Harclerode whose marriage to W Earl Newcomer will be solemnized soon. High card scores went to Miss Adessa Kistler Miss ether Wheeler and Miss Ada Hill.
Hershey Cuba two sugar mills start grinding the 1924 crop with shipments to Hershey Chocolate factory. The Hershey mill capacity 65 million pounds and Rosario plantation 72.25 million pounds, totaling 187.25 million pounds for the season. Cuba’s 1924 harvest forecast 3.75 million tons, with sugar priced around 8 to 10 cents per pound.
On Monday evening 75 members of the Hershey Department Store held their annual banquet on the mezzanine balcony. Despite a cold wind outside they enjoyed a hearty meal prepared by Chef M. C. Favinger, followed by vonga and speeches, in a lively, jolly gathering of the store’s “up-and-going” organization.
The Men's Bible Class of the First A. B. Sunday School met Thursday evening January 17 at the Winter Dance Hall with many members present. Plans were discussed for a Lebanon Valley Glee Club concert at Hershey Central Theatre on February 7. Membership tallies were given by Rev. A. G. Nye and Superintendent J. R. Zoll.
A farce Nothing But the Truth will be staged at Hershey Central Theatre on Thursday Jan 31 by the John Elder Men's Bible Class of Derry Presbyterian Church. Miss Gregg Darrow directs with curtain at 8 pm. The production features stockbrokers and romantic entanglements in a three act comedy with reserved seating available.
Mid year exams at Hershey School determine honor pupils those averaging 90 or higher. The list names seniors juniors sophomores and freshmen with exempt status in subjects from English history biology science algebra arithmetic Spanish shorthand typewriting bookkeeping and more. Notable names include Esther Walmer Lawrence Edwards Ellen Leithiser Treva Dise Ruth Liller Mary Taylor and Mary Hummer among others.
The mid Winter Institute of District No 3 Dauphin County Sabbath School Association will meet at Derry Presbyterian Church next Sunday at 2 PM. I L Reist leads the song service and Rev M LeRoy Wachter conducts devotions. Elizabeth Price speaks on Children s Division Work and Eaig McCrone discusses Young Peoples Work. Rev H A Kunkle will address Teen Age Teaching. Twenty one girls aged five to nine attended Miss McKinstry’s gym class at Hershey Winter Dance Hall last Saturday. The low ten cent fee applies, and all who missed last week are welcome this Saturday at nine o clock for physical training and fun.
William Russell stars in Times Have Changed a drama centered on an old Salem quilt that travels through a series of incidents including theft hidden diamonds and sale. The film features Mabel Julienne Scott opposite Russell and is directed by James with showtime Tuesday January 29 at Hershey Central Theatre.
Conrad Augustus Horstick of Palmyra dies at 73 from progressive paralysis at his home on West Main Street. A longtime educator, he later managed Homsatead farms and was the first manager of the Hershey farms. Funeral services were held at his home with Rev. Leinbach officiating. burial in Palmyra cemetery.
The John Elder Men's Bible Class of Derry Presbyterian Church held a well attended second Lyceum Course at Hershey Central Theatre. The Maitland Entertainers, a trio who “gang and played to beat the band” were highly appreciated and applauded.
Mr. Ezra F. Hershey and Prof. A Hinkel attended a Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce dinner Tuesday and then toured Harrisburg High and Tech High to inspect facilities and programs.

John Zoll leads a top dressing demonstration on timothy, and corn standardization work will be conducted by Ira Shenk F. C. Snavely Clayton Gingrich Christ Balsbaugh and John Zoll.
Miss Clara Mae Harclerode and W Earl Newcomer were united in marriage at St. John s Reformed Church Steelton by Rev. David Dunn. Attendants were Miss Martha Dunlap and Owen Greenawalt. The couple plan a Nashville wedding trip and will reside at 1945 North Fourth Street.

A letter from J. H. Workman of 355 East Derry Road urges Township Road Supervisors to repair a dangerous crossing area near the Presbyterian Church. He describes missing stepping stones and muddy pools forcing pedestrians to walk on the highway, risking injury in bad weather.

The Lebanon Valley Fish and Game Association distributed six pails of trout to Spring Creek and nearby streams with three pails planted locally by Palmyra members. Each pail held about 76 trout, aiming to stock the streams for the coming fishing season.
