Campaign to raise 160000 for Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital runs from Monday to January 26. Hershey chapter led by Rev R R Butterwick aims to canvas town. funds will equip the hospital to handle emergencies and epidemics for Harrisburg and surrounding communities.
National War Work Council of Y M C A grants free scholarships for ex service men with many subjects and locations. Five new schools open Feb 2 1920 and State College opens March 1 1920. The Board of Directors and Election Board members of the Hershey Trust Company were entertained at dinner by Mr. J. B. Leithiser at his home on January 8, 1920. The host was praised for his hospitality and the gathering received a hearty vote of appreciation.
Hershey Post 368 American Legion holds a joint smoker and business meeting on Tuesday evening January 27 in the second floor organization room of the Hershey Central Theatre. All members and ex service men are invited and urged to attend with invitations sent to all known to have served. The meeting aims to organize the post, discuss future activities, and raise funds besides dues. A social smoker follows the meeting.
Interest grows among Hershey women for a Ladies Auxiliary to the local American Legion post with endorsement from the post. Eligibility includes wives daughters sisters of Legion members and relatives of those who served 1917 1918 and died by 1920. Temporary officers may be elected after a meeting and charter obtained from National Headquarters. Ivan L. Mease holds the charter blanks awaiting fifteen eligible signatures.
Hershey Male Chorus announces a February 5 concert at Hershey Central Theatre with soprano Irene Kreidler of Philadelphia as guest. Tickets are sold out, a full house expected, and the program includes works by Gruber Novello Offenbach Wagner Handel and Taylor with solo and chorus obbligato.
