Hershey Company Pays Fourth Quarter 1923 Extra Compensation

Additional compensation checks were paid to Hershey Chocolate Company officers and staff and to its constituent companies. The plan, in effect since January 1923, allocates 25 percent of profits as extra pay after deductions. The four quarterly percentages were 26.54, 18.14, 24.34, and 21.4 percent of salaries, averaging 22.34 percent for 1923, with 1924 planned to continue.

Local Hershey Folks Attend Muhlenberg Rally

Members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Hershey attended a Rally Service at Salem Lutheran Lebanon marking a campaign to raise one million dollars for Muhlenberg College Allentown. Dr Haas and C Dreshman spoke. College Glee Club provided music. campaign runs Feb 29 to March 9 in a bid to support the college.

Houtz Bowman Wedding in Palmyra Home

John A. Houtz of Hershey wed Lizzie A. Bowman of Palmyra at 542 Railroad Street Palmyra last Saturday at 6 30 pm. The ceremony was by Rev M LeRoy Wachter of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Hershey Firemen Debate Siren After Vote At Meeting

The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company met to decide whether to accept an electric siren on the Hershey Men’s Club cupola. After a favorable vote, members argued over practicality and noise, with a special meeting planned for February 11 to continue the discussion. A temporary police detail for fires was approved, and finances showed 26 members in arrears with a treasury of $706.84.

Further Grace Delays Delinquent Taxpayers in Derry Township

Tax Collector Frank Kegerreis opts to withhold publishing delinquent taxpayer names to allow more payment time. About 100 percent of those who paid, two avenues show 98 percent, Derry Road 97 percent, and the rural district has 13 delinquents. Delinquents may be jailed or have personal property levied under the law.
