Bridge Collapse Halts Traction Engine at Hershey Farm
A traction engine owned by David Gordon collapsed a bridge over Manada Creek while crossing to a Sand Beach area farm. Engineer Frank Espenshade suffered a broken arm. Levi Hess Jr lost part of an ear and shoulder injuries. Andrew Henry escaped with minor bruises. The county commissioners were blamed for negligent bridge inspection and maintenance. The engine was recovered the following Tuesday.
