A meeting is scheduled for Thursday evening August 18 at 7:00 in the Central Theatre for property-holders living on the south side of the P. & R. Railroad.
A large crowd attended the Park Orchestra concert despite Sunday rain and wind. Soloist Jack Rhodes delivered a masterful Rachmaninoff piano piece, earning prolonged applause and a successful encore.
The Hershey Press acknowledges receipt of the Nurse Fund Drive data on Aug 11 1921 and thanks Mrs C V Glynn Secretary for recognizing the publication as a headline. The Press affirms support for community betterment and the American Red Cross in Hershey and beyond.
The board seeks applicants for an assistant janitor position and instructs candidates to contact Secretary JR Zoller and Principal A M Hinkel at 228 15 Areba Ave Hershey PA for details and application.
The Community Nurse Drive concluded Friday August 5 with 1778.55 raised toward a 2000 goal for a year of nursing services. Miss Elizabeth High will take calls by appointment and emergencies, with assistance from Mrs. Esbenshade and Mrs. Wirth when she is away.
A chicken corn soup supper was hosted by the Copp family in mboden's woods on Saturday August 13. Guests included John Copp and many relatives and friends. The event featured games and plentiful lemonade with an enjoyable evening for all attendees.
The Diakonia Bible Class of Trinity Lutheran Sunday School will hold a regular monthly business session on Thursday evening August 26 in the Church Basement. All members are urged to attend.
A special board meeting filled all teaching posts for Derry Township starting August 29. The list includes high school staff Frances A. McFarland Esther Baughman and others plus rural schools Ethel Hocker Gladys Lewis Solomon Balsbaugh and Amos Hess among named teachers.
Washington Camp No 705 invites Hershey and area P O S A members to first annual outing at Laurel on Saturday. Schedule includes 6:00 a.m. departure, Laurel visit, Roosevelt Crags hike, contests, baseball, races, water events, meals, addresses, camp fire and Auld Lang Syne. Bring lunch and swimming gear. each member may bring one guest.
Mr. and Mrs. John Light hosted a Thursday birthday surprise dinner with guest of honor Elizabeth Light. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Park Cassidy, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beeshore, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Warcas, Mrs. Eliza Dareas, Miss Iva Jones of Shamokin, Miss Ama Spittler of Pinegrove, and Sterling Light.
Clarence Wiley sustained a severe twist of the left ankle last Thursday while leaping the fence around his Java Avenue residence. Dr. Zimmerman treated him immediately and he remains temporarily incapacitated but is expected to recover soon and resume duties in the Mechanical Department.
A community ice cream social is set for Saturday evening on the Central Theatre lawn starting at five. The event, organized by the Boiling Springs picnic committee, aims to cover a prior deficit and offers ice cream cakes pies candy and lemonade with the sports committee coordinating activities. Proceeds support the community effort and appeal to attendees to come early for best choices.
The Union religious service at Athletic Park last Sunday drew an estimated 500 to 600 attendees with the Acme Band providing sacred music from 7 to 7:30 and a film shown on the big screen. A concert by Hershey Boys' Band led by R F Swabb, congregational singing, and a sermon by Rev John Wesley Grande are listed for next Sunday at 6 30 to 7 30 standard time.
Hummelstown residents are invited to a red letter day on September 10 as the American Legion and the Acme Band host a picnic at Town Athletic Park. A baseball game, foot races, tug of war, contests, games, and abundant food will be offered with music and community singing by the Acme Band. A committee meeting is scheduled for August 23 in the Farmer's Bank Director's Room with named chairmen for various tasks.
Mr and Mrs William Houser announce the birth of a baby girl Helen Elizabeth on Wednesday August 10 at their East Derry Road home.
The Luttringer Players present Quincy Adams Sawyer at Hershey Park Theatre on August 25 26 and 27. A wholesome New England drama praised for its humor rural charm and clear love story with an enlarged cast and scenic effects.
A birthday party was held Saturday evening at Mr. and Mrs. David Martin’s home honoring Mr. Martin. Guests included numerous relatives from Harrisburg Bachmanville Elizabeth town Palmyra Mr Pleasant Grantville and Annville with many gifts and refreshments enjoyed by all present.
Hershey Post No 386 of the American Legion will meet Tuesday evening November 23 at Club Quarters. Members are urged to attend and bring interested buddies. Meeting opens at 7:00 PM.
