Derry Township School Opens With Renovations and New Teachers
The Derry Township Board designates Monday August 29 as opening day with conference for teachers at the M S Hershey School building and pupils to report Tuesday August 30. The sixth grade will be housed on the Hershey Inn first floor to relieve crowding, rooms improved and ventilated. Regular attendance enforced under compulsory law, nine month term. Transportation arranged for remote districts by Cassidy and Ulrich. A teacher list will appear next week.

Private James McSherry Buried With Military Honors
The body of Private James McSherry of Hershey was buried in Greenwood cemetery Lancaster with full military honors. He enlisted in Harrisburg, trained at Camp Hancock Georgia, went overseas May 1918 with the Twenty eighth Division, served as a runner, and was killed carrying a message on the front near Fere. Survived by mother Mrs Philena McSherry Enola a brother Jesse G McSherry Harrisburg and two sisters Mrs Blanche Baker and Mrs Martin Berger Snydertown.

Postmaster Cope warns patrons lacking proper private mailboxes must install them within 30 days or delivery service will be withdrawn. After the grace period no mail will be delivered to residences without a suitable receptacle. This is the second notice on the subject and Cope urges compliance.
