The first annual Essay and Bird House Building contests announced winners at the Store on Saturday. Rosie Lovinger and M Alcesta Slichter won top prizes for essays on birds, with support from Ruby Sanders and others highlighting birds as insect eaters and beneficial neighbors.
Citizens of Hershey are urged to attend a Tuesday evening 7 pm gathering at Hershey Central Theatre to organize a local fly campaign. Invited speakers include Mrs. Ross Esbenshade Miss Ella Kegerreis Miss Elizabeth High A. T. Heili John Allwine.
Miss Lillian C Crum of Union Deposit married Monroe C Stover son of Mr and Mrs Robert D Stover at 10 00 AM in First United Brethren Church. They reside at 108 Areba Ave and honeymoon in Washington DC. The bride and groom are noted for their employments and friendly reputations. The Press joins well wishers in offering congratulations.
The Tom Thumb wedding staged by Hershey children aged three to twelve at Central Theatre drew a large crowd. Sixty young actors, led by a bridal party, wore period outfits and performed with charm, eliciting hearty laughter and applause under the Faithful Workers Class of First United Brethren Church. The troupe and sponsors expressed gratitude to all participants and patrons.
Mina Grace Sage presents The Country Cousin by Booth Tarkington at Central Theatre on Tuesday evening May 3 at 08 00 p m under Y W C A auspices. Sage described as highly recommended reader and impersonator of quality. Tickets general admission 60c, reserved 75c. secure tickets early.
Hershey Post No 386 American Legion will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday evening April 26. Amendments to By Laws postponed from March will be acted upon. Strong attendance is urged with promises of smokes and cats and other discussions planned.
Hershey prepares for a baseball season with nineteen candidates reporting to Manager Hinkle. The squad aims to form a first class team as community support grows, aided by booster buttons and a May 10 Park Theatre fundraiser to fund the effort.
On Saturday April 23 Blanche Sweet stars in The Girl Montana with Jimmy Aubrey’s The Blizzard comedy. Monday April 25 Viola Dana appears in Blackmail with The Phantom Foe episode. Wednesday April 27 William Russell leads Tron Riders and Sunshine Comedy Her Dog Gone Wedding.
Mr Philabaum offers refined ballroom instruction at Hershey Park dance hall teaching the fox trot waltz and one step plus the new college rock. Dances of questionable character will be tabooed. Classes meet Monday and Thursday evenings each week.
The Diakonia Bible Class of Trinity Lutheran Sunday School will gather Thursday evening April 21 in the church basement. All members are urged to attend.
Hershey Volunteer Fire Company hosts a booster meeting on Friday May 6 at the Winter Dance auditorium. The program includes a street parade, Hershey Boys Band concert, Community Sing, a live speaker, open forum and refreshments as the community unites to push for improved fire protection and necessary equipment.
The Derry Presbyterian Sunday School Board met April 18 with Ivan L. Mease and members present. They set monthly meetings for the third Monday, announced location beforehand, and elected G. Chance Phillips as treasurer succeeding Harry Moyer who declined re election.
The public is invited to a free lecture on Nature Study by Rev R R Butterwick at 7 00 p m Thursday April 21 1921 in the Y W C A Assembly room Hershey Pa The Educational Committee of the Y W C A sponsors the talk to promote close observation imagination and sympathy in all listeners and to show the value of nature as a teacher.
The Men’s Bible Class of Holy Trinity Lutheran Bible School Hershey has secured Rev. D. Burt Smith D D of Philadelphia to speak at a Bible Class rally in Holy Trinity Church on Friday evening April 29 at 7 46. Men and women from town and surrounding community will be invited to attend a program will be announced next week.
