Noted Organist To Present An Evening Of Music

Philadelphia blind organist C Walter Wallace well known from Lebanon's Tabor Reformed Church will perform at Holy Trinity Lutheran Hershey on Tuesday April 14. He will open the new organ at Easter in Womelsdorf and tours Hershey area music lovers with a program featuring Batiste Bizet Mendelssohn pieces and a talk on blind education.

Radio Helps Find Mrs Bobb's Lost Brother After 15 Years

Mrs James Bobb wife of Hershey Chocolate Co foreman learned her long lost brother Ed H Shumberger was alive after fifteen years. A radio broadcast by Park Cassady prompted a letter from Lincoln Nebraska confirming his identity. He had been traveling in Mexico and later settled near Lincoln running a ranch with sheep grazing.

Easter Sunday Programs At Four Local Churches

Easter services feature school and church programs across Derry County. Derry Presbyterian, Holy Trinity Lutheran and Fishburns A S Church present recitations, songs, and solos on April 12 with morning and evening performances. Mrs Ellis Resigns as Matron at Y W C A

The Y W C A board reports the resignation of Matron Mrs L Ie Ellis effective April 15 after a March 15 notice. New officers include President Mrs A M Hinkel and Secretary Mrs R C Grace. Ellis plans to return to Anderson Indiana to work as a dietitian at the Y W C A cafeteria.

Hershey Volunteer Fire Co held its monthly meeting at the Hose House listing numerous members. It announced a sale at Winter Dance Hall from April 2 to 26, and plans to recruit fifty active members for new fire squads with weekly drills.

Homer Sipley The Man From Dixie and a noted storyteller will headline the Hershey Central Theatre program on Saturday evening. Shows are slated for 6 30 and 8 30 o clock with Sipley delivering the featured act.

Hershey Hiking Team Sets Remarkable Regional Pace

Two Hershey residents Bill Curtis and Paul Gingrich hiked 10 to 15 miles nightly and on Monday completed a 3 hour 50 minute trip from Hershey to Elizabethtown and return via Campbelltown and Industrial School. Local authorities reported a speed warning from Deodate noting they exceeded the limit by seven miles per hour.

Wrapping Leads Industrial League With Close Win

The Wrapping department beat Construction 24 to 21 to regain first place. In the second game the Men's Club defeated the Playing Mill 37 to 20, dropping the Mill to second. High scorers included Stover and Aungst for the Men's Club and Gerlach for the Playing Mill. Remaining fixtures include Wrapping vs Planing Mill and a championship game if officials approve.

Midgets Organize Summer Classes For Boys

The Hershey Men's Club Midgets have organized spring and summer programs with outdoor practices. The season will feature baseball swimming tennis hikes and outdoor games. Teams named Yankees and Athletics each hold four points. classes are for boys under 12 and younger children can join to learn swimming.

Presbyterians Hold Annual Congregational Meeting

The Derry Presbyterian Church reported progress across departments at its April 1 meeting. Contributions rose allowing a $200 local increase split between reducing the Presbytery appropriation and boosting the pastor’s salary. Repairs to the sexton house, manse enhancements, and a perpetual photograph were funded. Sunday School officers and teachers were elected. officers for the church and deacons, an elder, auditors, and pianist were named.

Prize Picture Presented To Hershey School

The Tuberculosis Society of Dauphin County awarded a framed picture to Hershey School for its Christmas seals drive. Derry Township sold 19 758 stamps, with the 7 A Grade leading, and the image titled The Wind mil by Jacob Von Ruyshael hangs in their room.

Missionary Conference Attended at Fourth Street Church

Taylor and Kathryn Weltmer attended the 2nd annual Missionary Conference of the Carlisle Presbytery at Fourth Street Presbyterian Church in Laban. Luncheon at the Woman's Club followed, where the club rooms were decorated with chrysanthemum and pussy willow. Old Derry stands first in excellence for four years, with Market Square and Old Derry leading in mission study books this year.
