Old Derry Church Reports Best Year In History

The Derry Presbyterian Church held its annual meeting on March 31. Reports show record local contributions of 4278.00 and benevolence gifts of 2030. Membership rose by five, Sabbath School enrollment by 13, and average attendance to 110. Officers and teachers were reelected or appointed including W. R. Esben shade Irvin H. Slesser as trustees, John M. Stoudt J Addison Kyle as deacons, and Ivan L. Mease as Sabbath School superintendent.

Miss Mildred Hocker Weds Paul Abele in April Ceremony

Miss Mildred Hocker daughter of Mr. and Mrs Frank L Hocker of Hummelstown became the bride of Paul R Abele son of Mr and Mrs A A Abele of Elizabethtown in a Saturday morning ceremony at the bride's home conducted by Rev Conrad K Curry. The couple will reside in Elizabethtown after a tour and honeymoon and their many friends extend best wishes.

500 Card Party at the Y W C A

The American Legion plans a 500 card party at the Y W C A recreation rooms on Monday evening April 19 at 8 00 o'clock. A new plan for choosing partners will be used, aimed to improve the event and gain approval from attendees.

Rural 8th Grade Entrance Examination Set for April 22

The countywide test for rural 8th graders seeking High School placement will be held in all Dauphin County high schools on Thursday April 22 1926 starting at 9 oclock in the morning. Eligible pupils must report at the high school they plan to attend. Examinations are prepared by the County Superintendent and results will be reported within four weeks. Room 22 at the Junior-Senior High School is reserved for the tests.

Marion Talley Concert Draws Big Demand in Hershey

Tickets go on reserved-seat sale Monday April 12 as Marion Talley brings her American Nightingale program to Hershey Park Convention Hall on May 30 at 2 30 pm. The Hershey Park management expects record attendance with Miss Talley touring nationally from the Metropolitan Opera. Hershey Minstrels at Hershey High April 28

The Hershey Minstrels perform Wednesday evening at Hershey High School auditorium under directors Paul J Ruf John F Snavely and Walter Priestley. A twenty five voice chorus, witty numbers, and musical acts highlight the show for Hershey High activities with reserved seats 50 cents and general admission 35 cents.

Six Miles of Concrete Road For Jonestown Road

The State Highway Department awarded three miles of concrete paving on Jonestown Road in East Hanover Township near Shellsville. The contract, for 14,192 feet at 100,844 dollars, was given to Swanger and White of Lebanon, forming a continuous road from Charlton to the Lebanon County line once weather allows.

Hershey Firemen Decline Parade Participation

Hershey Volunteer Fire Company members met in April with no president present. They declined to join the Myerstown Firemen's Parade on June 12 citing protection needs for Hershey and nearby areas. A delegate for the Dauphin County convention was not appointed. The finance committee reported a few donations for a new chemical truck and planned an energetic fundraising drive with better weather.
