Colgate University President Everett N Case told the M S Hershey Day audience at Hershey Sports Arena that the nation’s strength lies in freedom of individuals democratic government and independent courts plus the Bill of Rights. The Milton S Hershey Memorial Building elementary school in Derry Township was dedicated as a gift of the M S Hershey Foundation.

Hershey Junior College Opens New Term with Additions
Hershey Junior College begins the 1954 55 term as 78 freshmen and 33 sophomores enroll. The campus adds two classrooms increasing rooms from nine to eleven and introduces a student study room with new equipment including an electric typewriter ten manual typewriters and twenty desks and chairs.

The Hershey and Bethlehem clubs fought to double crowns in Reading on Sunday. Hershey boys edged Bethlehem 4 3 to claim the title as Bethlehem tied at three all before Hershey clinched No 2 doubles. Hershey girls dominated Bethlehem 4 1 in singles to seal their championship as Latshaw Latshaw and Plumbore led the boys in doubles.
