Halloween Parade Planned by Derry PTA Groups

The PTA sponsored Halloween parade in Derry Township invites all residents to join the event and help create a fun observance for youngsters. The parade begins at School Plaza with a route through Ceylon, Chocolate, Ridge, Caracas, Linden, Granada, and returns to School Plaza, followed by judging results at Hershey High School.

Junior College Grads Lead New LVC Students

Lebanon Valley College announces 213 new enrollees from Hershey Junior College in Hershey including Elizabeth Corrado Gary Eisenberger Mary Roth Jerry Limekin Charles Seibert and Joseph Verdone. Among new students are 165 freshmen 44 transfers and four special students with 23 veterans.

Hershey Woman Honored by Pa American Legion

The Pennsylvania American Legion awards Hershey resident Mrs. J. J. Gallagher its Distinguished Service Certificate for devoted civic and patriotic work. The honor, presented by Major Thomas F. Martin and John D. Emrich, honors her wartime Red Cross leadership and blood bank efforts in Hershey.

Leaf Pickup Service To Start In Hershey This Week

The leaf pickup service begins today in Hershey with pickups every Monday and Thursday for the season. Residents should rake leaves into gutters for pickup and, in bad weather, service shifts to the next day. The program aims to reduce fire risk and road damage from burning leaves, supported by the Derry Township Board of Supervisors and Hershey Volunteer Fire Company, with an ordinance ready for passage next Monday.

Door To Door Fund Canvass Opens In Derry Township

The 1956 unified campaign by the Derry Township Welfare Board and Tri County United Fund begins Monday with volunteers under fourteen district captains contacting donors not reached in the at work phase. Proceeds support immediate relief and welfare in Derry Township and United Fund agencies. Campaign is led by H. A. Vernet Jr. and Rudisill of Hershey serves as Lower Dauphin County chairman.

Church Official To Be Veterans Day Speaker

The Rev. Arthur Yeagy of the Central Pennsylvania Synod will speak at the Derry Township Veterans Day observance on Sunday November 11 at 730 p.m. in the Little Theatre Community Building. The event is co sponsored by Hershey Post 386 American Legion and Hershey Memorial Post 3502 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
